Superficial is the word, I do believe. Have you ever noticed how utterly superficial fans can be (not just when it comes to music, but this IS a music blog, so..)? One of my biggest pet peeves at the moment is “fans” who ‘lose respect’ for their idols or favourite artists and bands. Usually over weird, silly things. For instance, a musician/band might start hanging out with someone that doesn’t fit the fan’s image of the band and who they should be palling around with. It’s silly, in my opinion; musicians should be judged on their music, not on who they’re friends with. I tend to use him as an example a lot, but take Marilyn Manson - a lot of fans I’ve ran into are displeased with him (and the band) after Eat Me Drink Me’s release, and rightfully so because it was a stinker of an album. But then I encounter OTHERS who decry Manson because he’s hanging out with Lindsay Lohan and the like. Yeah, it’s fucking weird, but no reason to “lose respect” for the guy.

Just strikes me as being superficial, you know? Big deal. Yeah, I find it a bit puzzling too but whatever. What if he winds up putting out the equivalent of Mech Animals II or Holy Wood II within a few years? Will people flock back to him and quietly shove under the rug those moments where they were harping on about how much they disliked him because he was sharing booze with Lindsay Lohan?

I’m not gonna spoil what the song is, but it’s a staple for me at this time of year and Dr. Girlfriend and The Monarch (from The Venture Brothers) do it AWESOME.

Ayuh. Happy holidays. Just an FYI, won’t be posting anything for a bit in the way of mp3s. Had to wipe my harddrive and reinstall Windoze fresh, and as it was something of an impromptu decision I didn’t get to back up much.

You know what’s annoying? When people make up cutesy little nicknames for the RIAA. Yes, I get it; they’re unethical and bound to sue over what amounts to frivolous things. I agree. However, making up “funny” nicknames for them - mafIAA, etc. - just makes you look like a tool.
